Basic Computer Knowledge

These are the minimum you should know about your computer:

A. Your CPU (Central Processing Unit):

  1. 64 bit or 32 bit? Mostly 32 bit.
  2. How is the processor? and the cache?
  3. How is the RAM? What type, how “big” and how “fast”?
  4. How is the hard disk? How big?
  5. How is the audio/ video cards? on board or separately?
  6. Does it have other additional cards?
  7. What are the other devices?
  8. What is the operating system?
  9. What are the other basic softwares, such as AntiVirus, Firewall, Media Player, browser, etc?

B. Output devices :

  1. Monitor : LCD or CRT?
  2. LCD projector
  3. Printer

C. Input devices:

  1. Scanner
  2. Mouse
  3. Keyboard
  4. Tablets
  5. Optical drives

  1. How to download pictures from my camera?

These are what you should know about file:

A. What is a file :

  • System file
  • Hidden file
  • Data file

B. What is a format of a file:

  • extension file name : see, change.
  • format convertion

C. File operation :

  • with Windows Explorer: save, cut, copy, delete, paste, open/run
  • with certain program/application : example: M.Office
  • storing : hard disk, USB pen drives, USB plug and play devices, burning CD
